Make a house feel like home👇This is a question I get asked a lot as an interior stylist! You may be able to create a home that looks fantastic, but how do you achieve that homely feel? 🏡1. Personalise! Firstly, don’t hold back on adding things that mean something to only you. This might be a piece of art with some song lyrics that you love, or home decor that includes your initials. There’s a reason why personalised gifts are SO popular!2. Decorate for YOU! Don’t get caught up on other people’s opinions about whether or not they like a particular paint shade you’re thinking of using. If you love it - GO FOR IT! 🙌3. Only buy things that bring you joy. Do NOT get too caught up on trends as this can not only date really quickly, but make your house feel like a show home.4. DIY/Upcycle things to make it more suited to your tastes. If you’re fallen out of love with something, is there anything you can do to give it a fresh new look?5. Use lots of soft furnishings to make your home feel cosy. Perhaps the most obvious suggestion - but not one to be overlooked!6. Fill your walls with your favourite art work. And this doesn’t need to be limited to just prints or canvases! I’ve hung a wreath that I made, a wall fan & some decorative plates from my trips to Morocco that makes my home feel more personable.7. Create a ‘hobby’ area. Somewhere you can switch off from the world and enjoy doing something you love. Maybe you’re a crafter and need a desk station, or a book lover and want a reading nook.8. Showcase family mementos or heirlooms. Things that are unique to you and your family that no one else will have in their home. Things that tell a story and have sentimental value.Let me know in the comments which one of these tips you liked the most! Ad. My houseplants have taken over! 😂🪴This month, I decided to hand the mic over to my plants as they were very keen to tell you all about the amazing benefits they offer. It’s no secret that indoor plants can (literally!) liven up any space and add a pop of colour, but did you realise they can help to improve your overall health and well-being too? 🌿Most houses contain toxins, which are emitted from everyday items, such as cleaning and personal care products, carpets, upholstery and paint. NASA’s Clean Air Study has proven that household plants can help remove chemicals and pollutants from the air and reduce the likelihood of illnesses. Research has also shown that people generally perform better at attention-based tasks when surrounded by plants, and being within nature reduces stress levels & anxiety. ☺️These are the main takeaway benefits that the power of plants can offer us:- They purify the air.
- Plants help to increase concentration and productivity.
- They relieve stress and anxiety.
- Plants can boost your mood.
- They help you get a better night’s sleep.
- They may also help you recover from illnesses faster.I’m going to be sharing some more plant benefit tips on my stories over the next couple of days, so watch this space 🙌👀And for more plant inspiration, care tips and advice, head over to @thejoyofplants 🪴#thejoyofplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #fortheloveofplants #planttips #plantlove #plantsplantsplants
Want to make cleaning more fun?!👇Let’s face it, the last thing we want to be doing with our well-earned time off is cleaning. 😫 I’ll be the first to put my hand up and admit that I can be terrible at ticking off the cleaning to-do’s! It’s so easy to put things off, start procrastinating, get distracted by something more fun… But what if cleaning WAS more fun?!Here’s 5 ideas that I’ve used to help me tackle the chores more easily, but have also made me somewhat enjoy the process too!1. Wear some wireless headphones, blast out some music whilst you’re cleaning and DANCE!🕺🏻 I’ve shared a reel on this before but this genuinely does work. When you dance your body releases endorphins, making you feel more excited with positive energy and good vibes.✌️2. Set a timer.⏱️ I never clean without setting one now and it’s something I SWEAR by! It makes me accomplish more in less time and I find myself getting competitive against the clock which makes it more fun 😂3. Call a friend / family. 📞 Have a chat on speaker and catch up with a loved one to make time go more quickly. It’s a great way forget about what you’re actually doing 🙌4. Listen to a podcast or audio book. 🎧 Another great way to get lost in what you’re doing and it can be educational too! Pssst - I have a podcast sharing more home hacks (like this!) at @howtohome.podcast … Give it a listen! 👀5. Switch up the styling in your home whilst you clean ✨One of my fave parts about cleaning is the option to move things around, switch up my accessories and spend some time titivating & styling to give my home a fresh new look - Moving things around makes cleaning far more fun and rewarding. 🙌Now are you feeling more keen to clean?! ✨ Let me know in the comments below what idea you want to try next and what ones you have already done before! I’d love to know! ☺️#cleaningtips #cleanwithme #homehacks #cleaningmotivation #cleaningmyhome
Cagliari, you have my heart! ❤️🇮🇹We’re back! After 6 amazing days, we’re in homeland again and it’s safe to say I’m feeling the holiday blues today 😂Some of my favourite parts for anyone who’s thinking of visiting!🚤 Definitely book a boat trip if you go! This was without a doubt the highlight for us. We booked two tickets through Viator which was 3.5 hours, stopped at 4 swimming spots (including one in a cave!), snorkelling equipment, water & Prosecco 🥂. DM me if you want a link and I’ll send it to you as our host was amazing and would highly recommend.🍽️ The food was to die for! So many amazing seafood pasta dishes, pizzas, antipasti and aperitifs. Here’s a few of my fave restaurant recommendations!Mari Mannu - Delicious seafood pastas with fresh fish you can choose from. We went here on Toms birthday and it didn’t disappoint! The octopus salad starter was 10/10 and the shrimp linguine 🤤La Taverna - Tucked away in the busy streets of the city centre, very picturesque location and great if you want a true, authentic experience. Would recommend the Iselis white wine (from Cagliari!) and the mixed grilled seafood secondi 👌Framento - For pizza! Lots of selection (I had the Bianco, rosso & verdone with fresh stracciatella cheese)Coccodi Dolce e Salato - For the BEST breakfast! Lots of Italian pastries, or hot breakfasts, waffles & pancakes 😋Other things I would recommend doing!- Hire a bike for the day to explore the entire city centre & beaches- Spend a day at Poetto beach (we went to Emerson and hired two loungers + umbrella for the day). Amazing Poké bowl lunch!- Visit Orto Botanico, botanical garden- Visit Orto dei Cappuccini if you want a picnic in a park (the have free deck chairs!)- Take a stroll down to the port to go people watching.- Walk down Via S.Saturnino (a road with lots of good graffiti art!)It really was a brilliant trip! Still daydreaming about the food, and already having withdrawals from the Aperol Spritz 😂🍹Let me know if you have any other questions below 👇#cagliari #cagliari_lovers #travelwithme #sardinia #sardiniamylove #onmytravels

Is creating rainbows in my home my addiction?🌈😂I mean, they do make me rather happy! For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been SO drawn to rainbows. I’ve asked myself so many times why I love creating them throughout my home decor around my home…I think it’s partly because the aesthetic transition between the various gradients of colours just feeds my soul and brings me so much joy 🥰Rainbow colours are also symbols of hope, solidarity and the declaration of equality, diversity and inclusivity which I have always, and will always stand for ❤️🏳️‍🌈We also have the well-known expression of ‘chasing rainbows’ to imply you’re following your dreams or pursuing goals that may seem too ambitious, too imaginative or simply out of reach… I’ve never been one to shy away from pushing myself and aiming higher (sometimes a good thing, sometimes very bad!), so maybe i’m subconsciously giving myself symbols of encouragement and motivation 🤷🏻‍♀️Anyway, I think it’s safe to say that rainbows are my VIBE. 🌈 I think I’ll happily stick with this addiction 😂#colourfulhome #rainbowdecor #rainbow #rainbowhome #colourmehappy #colourfulhomedecor #maximalistinteriors
Ad. Planning to go away on holiday this summer? ☀️👀
Then these houseplant tips I’ve created in partnership with @thejoyofplants are for you! Here are 3, simple and easy DIY self-watering ideas to keep your plants happy & hydrated whilst you’re away from home.🪴
✨Here’s how to make them!✨
DIY 1:- Fill a large vase or bottle with water and place it near your houseplant.- Cut some thick, nylon cord to your desired length.- Place one end of the cord in the bottom of your vase and trail the other end towards your plant’s soil area.- Thread a cocktail stick through the end of the cord, then poke it into the top of the soil.- Leave for (approx.) 2 hours and watch the magic happen! 👀
This will leave your plants hydrated for up to 4 weeks depending on the size of your vase and can be upscaled to suit larger houseplants too!🪴
DIY 2:- Line the bottom of a large, shallow tray with small stones or pebbles.- Fill the tray with water so that it is almost to the top of the stones.- Place potted plants on top and bury them slightly within the stones.
This is ideal for smaller plants. Make sure the tray is left in a bright space with in-direct sunlight and your plants will enjoy soaking up the water for up to 5 days.💧
DIY 3:- Using a cocktail stick and a lighter, create a small hole at the base of an empty water bottle.- Poke a cotton bud through the hole, ensuring that it is a tight fit.- Place the water bottle on top of the soil surrounding your plant.- Leave for 1 hour and you’ll start to see some of the water dripping through the cotton bud! This system can last for up to 2 weeks and is ideal for plants that require less watering. You can also upgrade it by placing the other half of the cotton bud through the cap of the bottle for your outdoor plants... This will filter rainwater into the bottle, meaning your outdoor plants can remain hydrated through sunnier spells too!🌿Enjoy your holiday with peace of mind knowing that your houseplants will be well-watered with these simple DIY hacks! 🙌Let me know which one you like the best in the comments! 👇#TheJoyofPlants #HouseplantCareTips #PlantLover #PlantHacks #DIYIdeas #HomeHacks

Ad. Security you can trust!
Now that we’ve finished painting the exterior of our house, it’s time to get some extra security! I’ve been wanting a @swannsecurity doorbell and camera for quite some time now, to help protect our home and give us peace of mind. 🏡
I am certainly no tech expert, but the installation was super easy with very clear instructions on how to set-up and install the devices... I was very relieved about not messing up our new paint job too! 🤣
The Swann Security app is so handy and makes all of the devices viewable & controllable with multiple different settings where you can adjust the sensitivity levels and detectable areas. And the best thing about it, is that there’s a fee-free option available so there’s no need to pay monthly fees with a subscription. It’s a win win! 🙌
If you do choose to upgrade to priority support, then you can add extra detection for package deliveries, pets & vehicles which I am definitely considering as we are planning to eventually add a drive to our front garden... Another thing on the renovation to-do list!
For now, I am so pleased with the extra technology, helping us feel safer and it’s safe to say that Digby has been enjoying it too! 🐾

Ad. Houseplant summer care tips 🪴
The warmer months are finally here and I’m excited to be teaming up with @thejoyofplants to share my top tips for caring for your plants throughout the summer months ☀️
Houseplant hydration is so important to ensure your plants have all the nutrients they need to promote maximum growth…
1. Make sure your plants are positioned in the right place within your home depending on how much light they need. Remember, different plant species will prefer different levels of light!
2. Rotate your plants weekly to ensure they grow evenly. Plants always grow towards the light (a process called phototropism). Too much sunlight on one side of a plant can cause it to grow unevenly.
3. Clean your plant’s foliage regularly to avoid dust building up. If your plant’s leaves aren’t clean, it can block the air and sunlight that they need to grow.
4. Water more often! With longer, warmer days, plants are more at risk of drying out more quickly than the cooler months. Regularly check the soil and ensure they are well hydrated.
5. Feed & nourish! Houseplant fertiliser encourages lush, healthy growth and ensures your plants are getting the maximum nutrients they need. Make sure they are well fed every 2-4 weeks until the end of autumn.
⭐️ My 2 bonus tips!
6. Watch for signs of stress. It’s easy to forget about houseplants whilst you think they’re having fun in the sun. Make sure you keep an eye on them to spot any changes. Any signs of wilting leaves, brown leaf tips or leaves dropping throughout summer means they need a bit of help!
7. Prune and repot. Prune your plants more often to make way for new growth. Plants grow more during summer which means their roots are more likely to become pot-bound. When this happens, it’s time to repot into a larger container.
Hopefully, these tips help to keep your houseplants thriving! Let me know which tip you’ve found most useful in the comments below 👇

Here’s how we did it! 👇🔥What a journey! Literal blo0d, sweat and tears 😂 But my gosh, wasn’t it worth it?!I know a few people have messaged asking about a proper how-to so I thought I’d write it all here in the caption in the order of what we did, along with some product recommendations for you 🙌✨How we did it:- Started off by removing any flaking paint, algae, moss etc. Had a slight breakdown when I realised how much of a monumental job this was 😂- Coated the house in a fungicidal wash to kill any moss & prevent it from returning. Used a thick nylon brush to properly scrub it in!- Cleaned everything off using a LOT of sugar soap, again brushing it in with a nylon brush to work away the dirt then wiped it all down with heavy duty DIY sponges.- Rinsed the entire exterior with water. Then allowed the exterior to dry for a couple days.- Opened up all major cracks with a Stanley knife, removed any loose debris and corroded nails.- Filled deep cracks with an injectable resin. Then filled any other smaller cracks & uneven surfaces.- Sanded it all down. This took an AGE but probably the most important step to not rush!- Removed & replaced all of the old silicone around our windows and then cleaned the windows.- Hoovered the house. Yep, you read that right! It removed any sanding dust / dirt without wetting it. Genius idea imo 😂- Primed the exterior with peel-stop to prevent any future flaking.- Painted the house (finally!) after ensuring the house had completely dried / aired out. The best and easiest part 😂 The prep was 10x harder!- Did some fine tuning, checked everything over, cleaned gutters & porch roof before the scaffolding came down 🙌- Painted all the woodwork around our porch and then finally, painted the front door 😍PRODUCTS USED IN COMMENTS BELOW 👇It’s definitely giving curb appeal 🔥😍 Now we need to move onto the surrounding walls of the front garden and give the path a makeover so watch this space 👀Door & stained glass from @geleta_doors (pr discount)#homeimprovement #exteriorpainting #colourfulbuildings #frontofhouse #curbappeal #renovatingourhome #beforeandafterhomeedition

Front door reveal! 😍🌈Bursting at the seams to finally be able to share this with you! The front of our house is fully painted and boy oh boy… It’s been a BEAST of a project! 😂 I’m so happy it’s done and couldn’t be happier with it 🥰I was pondering on whether or not to share Part 10 next, but this definitely felt better as a reveal! Don’t worry, there’s still more to come including the products I used as I know lots of you have found it useful! 🥰So let’s talk about this door 😍 It’s been my dream to have a stained glass door for sooo long now and I was lucky enough to be able to design the glass myself. Of course, it has rainbows! 🌈 It’s also got a door knocker on which I eagerly bought when I was in Marrakech way back in October 2022! It’s safe to say this front door has been in the planning for quite some time now, so to see it finally come to life is so rewarding 🥹The front garden is far from finished (we still have to do all of the surrounding walls as well as the path), but I’m so over the moon with what we have achieved so far. 🙌Watch this space, there’s still much more to come! 👀Door & glass - @geleta_doors (PR discount)

Ad. How to add some maximalist magic to your home! 🏡
I had the pleasure of teaming up with @habitatuk & @idealhomeuk to share my tips on how to style a maximalist room. Habitat has always been one of my favourite brands for colourful and eclectic statement pieces, so working with them on such an exciting project is definitely a ‘pinch me’ moment!
Habitat turns 60 this year and to celebrate this milestone, they have launched a fabulous collection inspired by the brand’s past, present and future. I am SO excited by the return of the iconic Scoop chair; a classic statement piece making a huge comeback that suits any home decor style. It’s no secret that I advocate for creating colourful, maximalist spaces, so I’m excited to share my own take on how to style this new collection...
Maximalism may seem intimidating, but there’s really no need to worry! Bold patterns and colours bring your interiors to life when styled correctly. To me, maximalism means confidence and is a way to inject your own personality into your home. These tips can inspire and guide you not to be afraid when it comes to styling your interiors.
⭐️ My main takeaway tips are:
- Start with a strong base of furniture in varying colours and shapes.- Add in statement accessories ensuring that different patterns and colours are well balanced within the room.- Don’t overcrowd surfaces... Remember that sometimes, less is more!- Incorporate lots of plants in complementing pots to bring the space to life.- Most importantly, enjoy the process. Styling a maximalist home really is so much fun!
Try my tips and see how you can add some maximalist magic to your home with Habitat! ✨
