About Gemma
Gemma is an interior stylist, shoot producer and art director based in Sussex, specialising in interior styling and creative direction for magazines, TV shows and home décor brands. With over a decade of experience in the interiors industry, Gemma has built a career defined by creativity, storytelling, and a love of beautiful spaces.
After five years working in visual merchandising for leading home retailers, Gemma took the leap into freelance life in 2015 and hasn’t looked back. Since then, she has worked across the creative industries of interior styling, set dressing, prop styling, and interior design. Her portfolio includes styling for editorial and commercial photoshoots for major magazines and interiors brands, press shows and events, and large-scale interior design projects.
In 2018, Gemma expanded into television, where she now works regularly as a design producer and art director on popular interior makeover shows. Her role combines creative direction, makeover designs, and production design, which are all skills that allow her to bring concepts to life both on and off screen.
Alongside her client work, Gemma is passionate about sharing interiors advice and home styling inspiration with a wider audience. She co-hosts the popular How to Home podcast, where she shares expert decorating tips, home trends, and practical design advice with thousands of listeners each week. She also runs interior workshops, helping people learn how to style and design their own dream homes with confidence.
Writing has also been at the heart of Gemma’s journey. Through her blog That’s So Gemma, she documents her career, creative projects, and personal passions. Whether it’s behind the scenes of a photoshoot, styling inspiration from her own home, or reflections on life as a freelance creative, her writing offers a mix of personal stories and professional insight.
Gemma’s career has been shaped by her willingness to try new things, from styling shoots for interiors magazines and producing aspirational room sets tailored to interior brands briefs, to directing creative campaigns for brands and producing social media content in line with specific campaigns.
