I’m sure many of you know this by now, but incase you don’t, I am a little bit obsessed with houseplants! Houseplants provide so many healthy benefits to any environment, as well as injecting some mood-boosting colours to brighten up a room. One room I want to focus on today is the office. Whether that be a separate room in your home, or a temporary lockdown table in your living room, dining room or bedroom… It needs to be a space that you can be most productive and stress-free.

Houseplants to Brighten up Your Home Office

Kalanchoes (also known as ‘Flaming Katy’) are colourful succulents that require very little watering, perfect for the not-so-green-fingered people out there! They are available in an array of mood-boosting colours including reds, pinks, yellow and oranges, and can even help to improve concentration, boost your mood and reduce tiredness. That’s something I certainly need in my office environment! For inspiration, advice and tips on how to look after these colourful little beauties, just head over to Always Kalanchoe.

I want to demonstrate different ways that you can incorporate them in to your home-office and how the different colours will help you be more productive when working from home…

Red for an energy boost

When I think of the colour red, it instantly gives me an energetic mind. I see it to be a very stimulating colour and it encourages me to thrive to my best ability. Studies have proven that plants can increase concentration and productivity by 15%, so adding a red kalanchoe in to your work space would be a double win!

Other ways to incorporate pops of red in to your office:

Magazine files and box folders are another great place to start if you’re looking for ways to incorporate red in to your working environment. It could even be something as simple as a new notebook if you’re wanting a quick fix.

Yellow for positivity!

Every time I look at the colour yellow it instantly makes me feel happy. It is naturally a very uplifting colour and always puts a smile on my face. In my office I have a yellow lamp and I absolutely love it because it adds a cheerful pop of colour that I can look at whilst I work. If you’re wanting to add yellow to your office then I would recommend making a statement with a larger piece such as a lamp or chair. Alternatively a feature wall/mural with pops of yellow would make an energy-boosting work environment.

Did you know?

Yellow kalanchoe plants (AKA The Flaming Katy) will bloom for up to 10 weeks. They require very little maintenance or care and therefore make them the perfect plants for a busy work space.

Soft pink for compassion…

Pink houseplants to brighten your work space

Pink is the colour of compassion and comfort, which is why pink kalanchoe plants create a natural, living sanctuary in which we feel more calm and protected. Now more than ever is the time to look after ourselves and reduce stress, so I’m opting for lots of pink shades in my work space!

Kalanchoes are the second most popular plant (after the orchid!). My favourite colour combo at the moment is pink & green, which is why I was instantly drawn to the soft pink kalanchoe plants when I was shopping for them. You can easily find them in supermarkets or garden centres, and they come at a very affordable price too, starting at just £1.99 for a small plant.

Green & white to de-stress

Housplants to brighten your office

I have always loved the colour green. Filling your work space with lots of natural greenery can instantly reduce stress and anxiety. It has been proven that plants can confer positive changes in the brains electrical activity and heart activity, which improves mental health and levels of stress.

A green and white kalanchoe is the perfect option for those wanting to add a subtle pop of colour in to their work space. Green to de-stress and white for purity.

 Magenta for creativity

If you’re wanting to spark your inner creativity then adding bright pops of colour will help to do this. Magenta is a bold and feisty colour, one to definitely draw attention and fill your mind with excitement. Adding a statement colour to your work space will not only add joy in to the room, but will also stimulate your mind to be more forward-thinking and fill you with accomplishment. If you want to get your creative juices flowing, then a pop of magenta is the way to go!
