6 Interior Ikea hacks to makeover your home…
Last month, in June’s issue of Ideal Home Magazine, I shared 6 simple Ikea hacks for you to try in your home. It’s all very well lusting on Pinterest at high-end interior designed rooms & pieces of furniture, but is it really feasible/affordable? Not for me, that’s for sure! Myself and the team at Ideal Home Magazine wanted to share these interior hacks using basic Ikea products in hopes to inspire you to be more creative in your home, and give you peace of mind knowing that it won’t break the bank…
1 . Hanging Plant Rail
Ikea’s simple RACKA curtain pole combination comes in black, white or grey and can be easily used to create a wall display of plants.
Stylist’s Tip: Use a variety of different hanging planters & plants to create the best display. Staggering them at different heights will make it more aesthetically pleasing on the eye…
2 . Scandi-Glam Dining Chair
Simply an Ikea VOLFGANG chrome plated chair layered with a LUDDE sheepskin.
Stylist’s Tip: Upgrade the chairs by spraying the legs gold, and use velcro strips to attach luxe-looking, cosy sheepskins.
3 . Hairpin-Leg Console
Attach hairpin legs to two of Ikea’s EKBY ALEX drawer shelves to create a bespoke console table. Double stack the shelf units for more storage space!
Stylist’s Tip: Hairpin legs are bang on trend and they aren’t going out of date anytime soon. Use them to modernise any piece of furniture, be it a table, chest of drawers or sideboard. They’re available in multiple sizes and finishes… The ones pictured above can be purchased from Wicked Hairpins.
4 . Media Unit
Who needs a pricey TV unit when you can make a modern one for yourself? Fix a wardrobe door and a sheet of MDF through the middle of 2 Ikea BEKVAM birch stools to create a low console table.
Stylist’s Tip: Needless to say this doesn’t just have to be used as a TV unit… Why not use it in a den or playroom to store kids toys, or at the end of the bed with folded blankets?
5 . Basket Lampshade
Rattan lampshades are in their prime, however they often come at a cost. This SNIDAD basket hack will easily give you that high-end designer feel at a considerably lower cost.
Stylist’s Tip: Remove the handles and spray it black, add a bulb and chord -and you’ve got a designer-look lampshade.
6 . Memo Roll
Fix two OSTERNAS leather cabinet handles to the wall, and slip in a wooden dowel to make a stylish holder for kitchen paper, foil or your weekly menu.
Stylist’s Tip: Ensure the dowel is considerably longer at each end to allow space for it to hang from the handles. Why not create a display wall if you have the space and create a group of three for foil or paper?
